THE STORY BEHIND #YOUTHWEEKS2020

Youth2KFLA began their original planning for #YOUTHWEEK2020 back in January, in what was still a confusing, but much simpler time.

The team, several youth and adult allies from across KFL&A spent the first week of March attending the #CanadaWeWant Conference, the national youth conference organized annually by the Students Commission of Canada.

Our second night back home after a week away, the NBA officially suspended its season.

The third night back home, the province of Ontario announced that all publicly funded schools would remain closed for an additional two weeks following the upcoming March Break.

When we all called into work the next Monday, it was a different world with new things to be concerned about.  The original plans for #YOUTHWEEK2020 were abandoned, leaving the space to create something new, something important, something safe, and something meaningful for this new world.

What has historically been a week-long celebration of youth has grown, through the hard work and dedication of several youth, adults, and organizations from across KFL&A, to a month-long celebration of youth. Events are being added to the calendar, new ideas are emerging, and partnerships are being made every day through the venture that has now become now as #YOUTHWEEKS2020!

With all that being said, we just have one question...
